The 1964 rugby league cup final on May 9th 1964 brought just one steam working into Wembley Hill station (the others were all diesel hauled). The wait was worthwhile as Stanier Jubilee class 4-6-0 no. 45617 Mauritius and Standard Britannia pacific no. 70052 Firth of Tay appeared with a mammoth 17 coach train including a 12-wheeled restaurant car. Both engines were allocated to Crewe North at the time.
