The Southern's shortage of express motive power when all the Bulleid pacifics were temporaily withdrawn in May 1953 following a cracked axle incident led to several Gresley V2 class prairies moving to Nine Elms mpd to cover some of their duties. No. 60893 is depicted here in something of a dream pose coupled to a Drummond M7 and with Waterloo's distinctive signal box in the background.  
60893 had been allocated to New England shed from new in 1940 and was loaned to Nine Elms from 14/5/63 thru' 28/6/63 returning to NE until 1957.
