LMSR Ivatt Mickey Mouse 2-6-2T No. 41300 is about to pass northbound through Newington station on 27/3/59.
No less than three viewers have sent me extensive notes relating to this picture and all of them - thanks gents - have come to the same conclusions:
March 27th 1959 was Good Friday and this is an excursion returning from Sheerness to one of the London termini after which 41300 would go to its home shed of Bricklayers Arms.
No. 41300 had a short career entering service from Crewe works at The Brick in March 1952 where it stayed for nine years moving from there to Brighton in January 1961. June 1964 saw allocation to Salisbury which came to a sticky end only four months later.
