Urie King Arthur N15 class 4-6-0 No. 743 Lyonnesse is one of the original LSWR batch built in 1919. You've read it often enough in my captions but beware of supplied information which is allegedly written by 'professionals' with vast stores of railway knowledge. This negative's sleeve is labelled "Wimbledon" which I knew couldn't be true even at a quick glance. Following much correspondence on the SEmG (Southern E-mail Group) message board we finally tracked it down as Templecombe. A viewer, Dave Rowlands, has pointed out that part of my original caption is incorrect and that 743 is running light away from the siding partly obscured by the water column and that the train that appears at a glance to be attached to it is actually a Down working in the Yeovil direction. No. 743 soldiered on into BR days and was withdrawn from Bournemouth mpd in October 1955.
