The motion blur doesn't detract too much from this shot of Wainwright 'D' Class 4-4-0 no. 1746 in charge of what the sleeve note describes as "Up Ramsgate" but with no hint as to date or location although the surroundings might be recognised by a discerning viewer. 1746 moved around the South Eastern quite a bit in the 1940's and would end up as a Guildford engine in March 1954. Withdrawal came in December of that year.
