The definitve end of Nine Elms steam rumbles past Wimbledon 'C' box on August 27th, 1967. The engine nearest the camera is MN no. 35007 whilst the next loco in line is the Great Escaper in the form of West Country no. 34034 for this was a second attempt to remove her from the scene. The previous attempt was a fortnight previously but 34034 developed a hot flush, pulled a sickie at Surbiton and had to be returned to Nine Elms for remedial attention.
