An interesting pair of Home signals on the up fast, island platform at Purley Oaks station. An enquiry on the SEmG message board elicited this response:
"This was the Up Through 'Warning' signal and would be cleared instead of the main signal above it, No.19, when trains were accepted by South Croydon Junction box under the 'Warning' Arrangement. - line clear to the South Croydon Junction up Through Home signal only, but junction blocked. When the main signal is cleared, this signified that the line up to the clearing point beyond the home signal is clear, (usually about 440 yards beyond). The signal was removed in May 1955."
