The protoype Drummond T14 'Paddlebox' 4-6-0 no. 443 entered service in July 1911 and would have met the same youthful fate as his other ventures into the world of the 4-6-0 wheel arrangement but for quirks of fate that prolonged the lives of this particular class which included a substantial rebuild as conventional locomotives in 1930/31. Here we see 443 on 20/8/49 at the Eastleigh dump after its withdrawal from servcice at Nine Elms in the preceding May. The last rites were performed in the November.
