Former LSWR Drummond C8 Class 4-4-0 No.296 or 298, the number is indistinct, in SR days with other LSWR locos parked at the side of Yeovil Town Shed. The C8 class was ope of Drummond's less successful designs and didn't stand the test of time. Both 296 and 298 were assembled at the LSWR's Nine Elms works in November 1898 but many of the component parts were made by Beyer Peacock. 296 was withdrawn in 1935 but 298 fared a little better lasting until january 1938.
