LSWR tank engines - MikeMorant

This was taken as I was making my way home to Croydon from an Eastleigh Works Open day but I don't recall whether this was 1956 or 1957. On the Up Through road we see 'dead' BR Standard Britannia pacific no. 70004 William Shakespeare, still a Stewarts Lane engine at that time, being manoeuvered by the former PDSWJR 0-6-2T no. 30757 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe which was the works shunter at the time. It was frustrating that I was at the end of the platform and 30757 had no intention of moving northwards but by way of some small compensation one can see in the background a Drummond T9 4-4-0 with GWR stock on a Didcot Newbury and Southampton service which would have been obscured if I had got the perfect view of the Brit.
