As most of us already know the background to the three Beattie 2-4-0 well tanks there is little point in repeating it here. What did surprise me whilst reading Bradley's history of the class is that, although we know them affectionately as the 0298 class, they were actually the 329 class. Here we see no. 329 inevitably photographed at Wadebridge circa 1922. No. 329, built in 1875, would survive until December 1962 being withdrawn as BR no. 30586.
