One of Dugald Drummond's LSWR design failures was his attempt to implemenmt railmotor services but the locomotive sections of them led, in some cases, long and useful lives despite their limited haulage capacity. This one such was taken in 1932 at Eastleigh in its rebuilt form as C14 class 0-4-0T no. 3741. This would become no. 30588 with nationalisation and would spend its entire nationalised life allocated to Eadtleigh whence withdrawal came in December 1957.
