REC: Aldershot Area Rail Tour 15/10/60
It's a shame about the image quality but one suspects that the light was unsuitable for colour photography. The depicted loco is Eastleigh allocated Drummond M7 class 0-4-4T no. 30028 whilst the unlikely location is Treloars Hospital Platform or Treloars Siding which was the last remaining stub of the Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway. Although that railway had become defunct as far back as 1932 this stub remained in use for freight traffic until 1967. the B & ALR is famed for its use for filming and in particular Cliddesden station was the setting for Buggleskelly in Oh, Mr. Porter! of 1936. Has anyone got an LSWR luggage label to Cliddesden? Or Herriard? Bentworth & Lasham labels are are available in such quantities that one could paper a large wall with them but the other two stations are rather thin on the ground.
