Stroudley 'Terrier' A1X 0-6-0T no. 32640 at Midhurst station in August 1958. The adornments   - the cowcatcher and the conical (or comical) chimney -   had been fitted on the day by the crew who were filming the opening sequences of "Carlton Browne of the F.O." which was deservedly a big hit with cinema audiences in its day.
This shot was taken at the former LBSCR station which had closed to passenger traffic on February 5th 1955 but continued in use for goods traffic until October 16th 1964.
32640 was withdrawn in 1963 and following years of display at Butlin's Pwllheli holiday camp found her way to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway where she is currently (2/2017) awaiting restoration.
