Stroudley A1 'Terrier' no. 84 Crowborough was built in September 1880 by the LBSCR at its Brighton works and was sold in 1903 to the Isle of Wight Central Railway (IWCR) which numbered it '12'. Rebuilding to A1X standard was implemented in 1916. The Southern railway later applied the name Ventnor. This undated shot was taken at Eastleigh but I don't have the history or understand the enigma of its withdrawal in 1936 and the delay until 1950 before it was scrapped.
