Bulleid light pacific no. 21C117 is in its original Southern Railway unnamed guise at Tonbridge on an unspecified date in 1946 although I suspect that this is actually a running-in turn immediately after it entered service in December 1945. 21C117 would be named Ilfracombe and form part of what became known as the West Country class. BR numbering as 34017 was applied in March 1948 whilst allocated to Exmouth Junction mpd but 34017 moved back to the Eastern Section in February 1954 and remained there - including her Jarvis rebuilding in November 1957 - until the impending end of Kentish steam drove her to Nine Elms in October 1960 and it was from there that withdrawal came in October 1966.
