Bulleid light pacific no. 21C121 is in its original Southern Railway unnamed guise at Tonbridge and is seen in charge of an Up Dover or Folkestone service to London Bridge on an unspecified date in 1946. 21C121 - a Ramsgate allocated loco when this shot was taken - would be named Dartmoor and form part of what became known as the West Country class. BR numbering as 34021 was applied in April 1948 whilst allocated to Plymouth Friary mpd but 34021 moved back to the Eastern Section in December 1957 and remained there - including her Jarvis rebuilding in January 1958 - until the impending end of Kentish steam drove her to Bournemouth in January 1961. 34021 survived until the end of SR steam and ended her days at Nine Elms shed.
