An early post-nationalisation shot on the climb to Honiton tunnel of Bulleid original West Country class pacific No. 34006 Bude in early malachite livery, still with the Southern smokebox roundel and no tender mrkings other than the yellow stripes. 34006 entered traffic in 1945 as 21C106 and received its BR number in March 1948 whilst allocated to Exmouth Junction which was still the case when this shot was taken. Bude didn't quite see out the end of Southern steam as withdrawal came from Salisbury mpd in March 1967.
