Brand new Bulleid light pacific no. 21C135 is in its original Southern Railway unnamed guise at Brighton in July 1946 . 21C135 would be named Shaftesbury and form part of what became known as the West Country class. BR numbering as 34035 was applied in January 1949 whilst allocated to Salisbury mpd. 34035 moved around quite a lot and was never rebuilt. Withdrawal came at Exmouth Junction in June 1963 having seen only 15 years of service.
The other ex-works loco in this shot is former LBSCR Stroudley E1 class 0-6-0T no. 2606 which was a brighton allocated engine at the time this shot was taken.
