Bulleid Merchant Navy class pacific no. 35005 Canadian Pacific in its original form and painted with the earliest incarnation of BR livery. This shot, taken at Nine Elms mpd, shows that the engine is the designated motive power for that day's Down Atlantic Coast Express and the headboard is the first type fitted above the front buffer beam. 35005 had acquired its BR branding in March 1948 and was allocated to Nine Elms from 5/48 until 3/51. This loco, in its rebuilt form, is still with us today.
