Warwickshire Railway Society : Farewell to Steam on the L.S.W.R. Tour 11/6/67
This tour had started out from Birmingham New Street behind Bo-Bo electric no. E3119 with steam power taking the reins at Mitre Bridge Junction. The tour was intended to include the Lymington branch but that was cancelled. However, that was probably a good move because, even without that, the train's arrival at Weymouth was some 35 mins behind schedule. The departure from Weymouth, as shown here, was only some 15 mins down and would see the rare sight of double-headed rebuilt Merchamt Navy pacifics 35013 and 35030. The tour's participants had hoped that this combination would continue at least as far as Bournemouth but 35013, the pilot engine, was detached at Dorchester South.
