LCGB: The Green Arrow Rail Tour 3/7/66
This was the tour that disappointed so many as the booked loco, Gresley V2 no 60919, had reached the south from Dundee but failed before it could take up its assigned duties although there was a brave attempt to coax it back to health but it failed a second time. Here we see part of the outcome in the form of Stanier 'Black 5' 4-6-0 no. 45493 piloting Bulleid original West Country pacific no. 34002 Salisbury at Weymouth as they prepare to depart on the journey to Bournemouth Central where the pilot engine would be detached. Incidentally, 45493 was allocated to Banbury shed at the time.
