RCTS The Sussex Downsman 13/4/58
April 13th 1958 was a momentous day for British steam enthusiasts as it would be the last time that an atlantic tender engine would grace our metals. The last Marsh H2 4-4-2 No. 32424 Beachy Head is seen here hauling that last rites railtour, the RCTS spondored Sussex Downsman, past New Wandsworth goods depot at 10.30 a.m. on that day. Of interest is 6-PUL No. 3012 with headcode 16 for Littlehampton which has been diverted from its norma track to the down slow line in order to accomodate the Special.
