The last steam train on the London Transport system ran on Sunday June 6th 1971 utilising a pannier tank with a typical engineer's train from Moorgate to Neasden depot. There was also an ex-works electric set used which must have been transporting dignitaries or some such to Neasden. At Dollis Hill one can see the tail of the steam train and by dint of good fortune the 'C' stock is about to overtake it.
Those BR-pattern brake vans lived on to become barrier wagons for transporting LT stock over BR routes, notably the 'R' and 'CO/CP' stock to scrap down the Midland line to Rotherham in the early 80's.
