North Eastern Railway D17 class 4-4-0 No. 1930 photographed at St. Margaret's shed in Edinburgh in 1913 is the only data I have to hand.
According to the RCTS Locomotives of the LNER, no. 1930 was one of the last batch of Wilson Worsdell's NER Q class engines to be built, completed in 11/1897. It was given a superheated boiler and fitted with piston valves in 2/1914. The M and Q classes were grouped together by the LNER as D17, but the Q's were distinguishable by their distinctive cab roofs. This engine was withdrawn in 11/1933, but the last 2 of the class survived until 2/1948.
