This loco originated as GCR Robinson designed 2-8-0 built by NBL for the ROD (Railway Operating Department) in 1919 and saw service on LNWR and LMSR before moving into LNER ownership as a class O4 engine in 1927 as their no.6639. However, the incarnation you are seeing here is a Thompson rebuild of 1944 whioch was classified as O1 and the number, 3890, was applied in 1946. This shot was taken at photographed at Darnall mpd on an unspecified date but before 26/6/48 when its BR number, 63890, was applied whilst allocated to Gorton. Withdrawal came at March mpd on 17/3/63.
