LNER Gresley A4 pacific no. 19 Bittern in charge of an Up express arrives at Darlington. The livery is garter blue and no. 19 was a Gateshead engine during this period and remained so until her move to Scotland in September 1963 where she remained until becoming one of the final withdrawals of this class in September 1966. We are fortunate that she is still with us today and has beeen a distinguished performer on the mainline in the 21st century.
