LNER Gresley designed B17/4 'Sandringham' class 4-6-0 no. 1667 Bradford in postwar livery with its 1946 number and just 'N E' on the tender. The date isn't specified but John Clayson informs me that this is Nottingham Victoria. The BR '6' prefix was applied to this engine's number in September 1949 and the loco moved betwen a fair number of sheds between nationalisation and eventual withdrawal at Cambridge mpd in June 1958. Amongst the spotters of the day this would have been referred to as a 'Footballer' by virtue of the fact that it was anmed after a football club and had a brass half football mounted on the club's colours below the nameplate.
