LNER Thompson designed B1 class 4-6-0 no. 1274 enters the north end of Harrogate station. No. 1274 was an NBL product entering service with BR in January 1948 allocated to Darlington mpd. Although to all intents and purposes a BR engine it didn't acquire BR branding until March 1950. 61274 did have one claim to fame as it was one of the locos loaned to the Southern region during the Bulleid pacifics crisis in May/June 1953 during which 61274 was allocated to Stewarts Lane depot.
