LNER Thompson B1 and NBL built class 4-6-0 no. 1275 in charge of an Up train at Northallerton. No. 1275 was a Darlington allocated engine when this shot was taken and would be BR branded as late as May 1950 despite the fact that it entered service in the first month of the nationalised era. 61275 would always remain in the north of England and would eventually be withdrawn at York in October 1965.
