GNR Ivatt D2 class 4-4-0 no. 1080. It's a nice shot but there's no indication of when or where it was taken although there is no doubt, according to one viewer, that this shot was taken at Doncaster looking southwards. However, if that is the case then how does one explain the coal piled high in the tender above cab roof level?
I think that 1080 was built in 1896 at Doncaster but I have no more history to hand than that.
