RCTS: North East London Rail Tour (train 1) 29/3/52
An unusual and rare sight by anyone's standards in the form of ex-GER Holden J69 class 0-6-0T no. 68549 with a rake of Gresley corridor stock at snowbound London Bridge station on 29/3/52. 68549 would haul this excursion only as far as New Cross Gate where the route would reverse with a pair of J69's in charge for the journey under the Thames and as far as Liverpool Street where it would again reverse and be hauled eastwards by Thompson L1 no. 67731.
When I saw the scanned detail of this negative I noted that the exposure for this shot must have been 'difficult' as there are clear signs of sleet streaming across the shadow areas. That was so and the photographer has noted that it was taken at 1/25 of a second at f8.
