Lancashire & Yorkshire railmotor was a Horwich works product designed by Hughes and dating from 1906. No 10609, L&YR no. 12, was withdrawn from service in June 1937. Further information comes from David Beilby: "This looks like Bolton Trinity Street . The railmotors are best remembered for their role on the Horwich branch, but from my 1931 WTT just one of these started at Bolton, otherwise they just ran from Blackrod. Much more likely is that it was working a Radcliffe to Bolton service, which was a Motor Train in that period".
