LNWR F. W. Webb designed 4-cylinder compound Jubilee class 4-4-0 no. 1915 Implacable was built in June 1899 and is depicted here at Holyhead standing in front of the empty stock of the overnight Royal Train from Windsor to Holyhead, for Queen Victoria’s visit to Ireland, which arrived on 3rd April 1900. The second vehicle is described as a covered carriage truck which had conveyed the Queen’s horse drawn carriage.
Implacable was absorbed into LMSR stock at the grouping and was one of the last to be converted to simple propulsion Renown class in the same year. Withdrawal came in July 1928.
