An interesting picture this as the loco is fitted for oil firing which apparently narrows down the date to 1926. LMSR no. 5607 Defiance was a Prince of Wales class 4-6-0 designed by Bowen Cooke and was built by the LNWR at Crewe works in 1911 entering service as no. 1721. This shot was taken at Shrewsbury and 5607 had a further eight years more of service to come as withdrawal was in December 1934 which, at 23 years, was quite a short working life for a steam engine.
