Former Midland Railway Johnson designed 2P class 4-4-0 no. 436 pilots an unidentified ex-LNWR Prince of Wales class 4-6-0 departing southwards from Carlisle Citadel station in 1926. Note that the 4-6-0 is fitted for oil firing. No. 436 was built by Sharp Stewart and entered MR service in March 1893. 436 was quite a long lived engine and survived to become BR no. 40436 in february 1950 whilst a Burton-on-Trent engine which is where she stayed until withdrawal in September 1954. I have a note here which says that 436 at some time after nationalisation bore the number M436.
