West Coast Joint Stock, LNWR sleeping carriage, at Lyme Regis on 28/6/53. This carriage provided overnight accommodation for loco crews on lodging turns. It was an LNWR design 65ft 6in sleeping car built in 1904 for West Coast Joint Stock, No. 325. The LMS renumbered it 10351, later 470. It was withdrawn from capital stock in 1941 and went into Departmental stock. In this picture it is DM198930 and the lettering in the centre says 'MOTIVE POWER DEPARTMENT LYME REGIS'. There were similar coaches at Wadebridge, Bude, Seaton and Launceston.
