LMSR Fowler Royal Scot no. 6152 The King's Dragoon Guardsman departs from the Oxenholme Down platform end. 6152 was, in reality, 6100 Royal Scot whose identities were swapped for the loco's tour of North America in 1934 and the identites were never reversed. 6152 was BR branded in June 1948 whilst allocated to Camden shed. Following a huge amount of movement around BR(M) in the fifties and sixties, BR 46152 was withdrawn at Carlisle's Kingmoor depot in April 1965.
Steve Scott kindly e-mailed me to correct my original and wrong location of Tebay: "This image is not Tebay but Oxenholme Down platform end. Just in front of the loco you can see the start of the main line connection onto the Windermere branch, middle distance are the branch platform tracks which are still in use today. The main line connection was swept away during electrification and the main line platforms lengthened. I worked at Oxenholme with the main line P-way gang and my late father-in-law was a driver at Oxenholme shed." [Mike Morant collection]
