The prototype LMSR Fowler Royal Scot class 4-6-0 no. 6100  - note the earliest attempt at smoke deflection just visible in front of the chimney -  is depicted here in charge of an Up express at Tamworth. This, the original no. 6100, would swap identities with 6152 The King's Dragoon Guardsman prior to the USA tour in 1933 and that change of identity would never be reversed. The engine depicted here was built by NBL and entered LMS service in October 1927 and would be withdrawn as rebuilt BR no. 46152 at Kingmoor shed in April 1965.
