Stanier Black '5' 4-6-0 No. 5052 ex-works and yet to be matched with a tender. The sleeve note states that this is Derby but it's actually Crewe works. The loco in front of the '5' is Bowen Cooke Super D 0-8-0 No. 9084. 5052 was built by Vulcan Foundry in 1934 and survived until 1967 whilst 9084 was withdrawn from service at Bescot mpd shortly after nationalisation probably in 1949. Vic Smith, with diligent research, has pinpointed the date of this shot to the second half of August 1936: "5052 was in works from 18/7/36 - 18/8/36 for what is recorded as LS. 9084 was in works from 15/6/36 - 17/8/36 for a Heavy General costing £864."
