It's easily forgotten that during WW2 Stanier 8F 2-8-0's were built for the LNER and were classified as O6. Here we see Brighton built no. 3506 seemingly brand new at Doncaster complete with LNER on the Stanier tender. All this class were subsequently sold to the LMSR in 1947 with this example being numbered 8711. Its BR number 48711 was applied in December 1949 and withdrawal came at Speke Junction mpd in January 1967.
