Collett Hall 4-6-0 6971 Athelhampton Hall coupled inside an unidentified Class 52 diesel hydraulic as they back into Paddington station. The parcels train in the background also has a 4-6-0 at its head.
Tony Willmore has kindly e-mailed me the following: "The red numberplate indicates that this is a green Western. The position of the overhead wire signs show that it was built at Crewe, and it is not D1036 (which had its cab numberplates higher than normal) so it is either D1035, D1037 or D1038."
Close inspection of the rescanned image at a higher pixel density reveals that the final digit isn't a seven which leaves us with either D1035 Western Yeoman or D1038 Western Empress.
