GWR 4-4-0 No 1124 originated as MSWJR (Midland & South Western Juction Railway) No. 6 built for that railway by the North British Locomotive Company in 1910. Absorption by the GWR saw this class fitted with Swindon No. 2 boilers of the type used by some of its prairie tamks which led, in my opinion, to aesthetic inelegance when compared with the original design which was as handsome a 4-4-0 as one could wish to see. This shot was taken at Swindon allegedly in 1932 and 1124 would be withdrawn from that same location in 1935.
