AL (Chemins de fer d'Alsace et de Lorraine) 4-6-0 no. 1102, depicted here departing from Gare de Metz in 1938, was a Henschel product that would soon become 230.G.102 under SNCF ownership. In the background can be seen the slightly older AL 4-6-0 no. 960 which would become SNCF no. 230.D.960.
A viewer has informed me that both trains are heading northwards.
More detailed historical background for these engines comes from Jean-Daniel Muller: "AL S10 1102, built by Henschel, works n°11 195, 1913; AL S9 960, built by Grafenstaden, n°5940, 1907"
