New Zealand Government Railways Q class 4-6-2 no. 346 was built by Baldwin entering NZGR service in 1901 and is depicted here at Dipton 23/1/56. This class gave birth to the Whyte notation 'Pacific' for the 4-6-2 wheel arrangement as they were the first of their kind and had to cross the Pacific Ocean. All were built in 1901 and thy had all been withdrawn by the end of 1957.
