This shot was taken at Hunslet Junction on the morning after the previous evening's 21.20 hrs St. Pancras to Edinburgh service had derailed. The stock comprised Type 4 diesel followed by three empty 6-wheeled milk wagons and then eight passenger coached two of which were sleeping cars. There were only 70 passengers on board and the most serious injury sustained was but a broken finger which is remarkable as the train was travelling at 60 m.p.h. when the derailment process started but the milk tankers broke away from the passenger stock thereby severing the vacuum pipe which brought the coaches to a rapid halt.
