LOCATION ?????? Slight motion blur apart this is a superb shot of Stanier Black 5's double-heading an express train. The leading loco is no. 45468 which was allocated to Balornock when this shot was taken. [Mike Morant collection]

Peppercorn K1 class mogul no. 62003. There's no documentaion regarding the date or location of this shot but it's on the BR(NE) region and the snokebox in deep shadow suggests that this coal train is northbound on the ECML. [Mike Morant collection]

Gresley A4 pacific no. 60031 Golden Plover wearing what appears to be BR blue livery if the lining out on the tender is anything to go by. 60031 was a Haymarket engine when this shot was taken and would remain there until 1962. The location isn't known to me as yet but note how high the coal is piled in the tender. [Mike Morant collection]

? ? ?   L O C A T I O N   ? ? ? in the northeast somewhere as that's an NER 3rd behind the loco. An unidentified LNER Robinson designed A5 4-6-2T running bunker first. [Mike Morant collection]

LOCATION?????? Not the best shot of a Worsdell D20 but it's included for the four wheeled vehicle behind the tender which, a viewer tells me, is a standard horsebox - note the groom’s compartment at the front. [Mike Morant collection]

? ? ?   L O C A T I O N   ? ? ? Probably a Saltburn - Newcastle service as the all steel artic set behind the 2 NER carriages was built for this route circa 1938. LNER no. 9868 is a Gresley A8 class 4-6-2T rebuilt in 1936 from a Raven H1 class 4-4-4T and is depicted here with a couple of intersting coaches behind its bunker. A Saltburn engine when this shot was taken, BR branding was applied in August 1948 followed by her reallocation to West Auckland in January 1949 which would be her last. LOCATION?????? T. W. Worsdell, NER, J21 class 0-6-0 no. 5119 of 1900 vintage on passenger train duty. 5119 was a darlington engine when this shot was taken and would receive BR branding in November 1948. [Mike Morant collection]
